depends on the blog, if it's very very popular blog then it's better depends on the quantity too it all depends on quantity and quality
If the blog has high PR rank then I would pick blogs. Forums are great way to get backlinks too even if it's a low PR.
it depends upon the content you are typing there around the link. Generally you have more freedom to speak on blogs so links there sound better. Forum links are also good.
I would say a blog especially in terms of gaining traffic, as people are more likely to actually read blog comments and click the link if what you post is relavent
Hi Joseph, A blog with a good amount of traffic and a high PR is going to be a great backlink, the same goes with a forum, so I guess they are both valuable in their own right. Best to do both. regards Rob
You can't generalize; it depends on the forum and the blog. I have found that, in terms of traffic, blog links tend to be very short-lived and tend to depend most heavily on the order in which they are added. For example, if you are the first to comment on a prominent blog, the link will often generate lots of traffic immediately, which will quickly taper off over the next few days. From then on, except on certain exceptional blogs or posts which are indexed by google, you will see very little subsequent traffic. Forum traffic, on the other hand, is a little slower to roll in, and a little bit more sustained in the short-term, and depends less on the order of posting, but it still does depend on the order of posting, and earlier posts (especially those on the first page of a thread) tend to do much better than comments buried in the second or later pages of a thread. And as the thread eventually goes inactive and gets buried, the sustained traffic can be even lower than that from an old blog entry. But again, this depends on the individual forum. Some forums with a low frequency of posts, a specialized topic area, and well-written posts, can deliver sustained traffic. And what about the SEO value of the link? I think this is a shot in the dark; unless you have specifically tested the SEO value of a given blog or forum, I don't think there's much intelligent that can be said about this. I think forums can sometimes have good SEO value. The forum links with the most SEO value, from my experience, are those where the forum is hosted on a main domain that is seen as highly reputable, and the forum tends to have fewer, longer posts and threads thus stay prominent on the board for a longer period of time. This is intuitive, because it means that google is seeing more links into the forum, relative to the speed with which threads are buried.
It really depends on how much traffic the site gets and how many people see your comments or signatures. I prefer signatures more.
Look at the blog your commenting on. Look at the page authority, domain authority, PR, of the posts page vs the forums page you would be posting on. Simple comparison their, also take a look at the content, if it's related, that's always a good thing. A good mixture of both forum and blog link building is great for SEO purposes. On another note, forum posting usually gets you some good traffic if your link is related.
Both are important for backlinks blog as well as signature....but as previously all says blog or commenting on blog has a more value than signature.
It completely depends on the site which your are going to submit. In my point of view I will give little more important to blogs.
i totally agree with all your suggestions and comments with regards to backlinks but then like what bethoven said your links will be useless if it is not partnered with quality content.
It really doesn't matter. If you are looking to get traffic to your site if needs to rank and be popular. If you are trying to create backlinks the Blog and Forum need to be do follow and rank high to raise your ranking with the SE.
