So i hired few people to get forum links. They all posted like 20-30 reverent comments that are long and informative but once i added a signature link to those profiles they got banned. (signature link is to a reputable site and not some porn or drugs or gambling) I know they did not spam the forum, i saw the comments myself. Why even allow a signature link if you wont let people have it ? I dont get that. I also dont get what did we do wrong, we followed every single rule of that forum, why did they got banned ? If someone wants to have a link on my forum, as long as they are not spamming, please! Thats why i allow signature links in the first place. Someone explain me how do people get forum links these days and why people getting banned just because they added a signature link.
I totally understand what you mean! Unfortunately, many forums do NOT allow links in your signature, even though you are allowed to have a signature. This rule is often very well hidden inside their rules and terms of use page. You should at least google that forum for its rules. For instance, say the forum url is somethingsomething.com, then you should google: site:somethingsomething.com rules site:somethingsomething.com signature links Do take a look at other posters signatures as well. If only admins have sig links, then you should skip that forum since regular members probably aren't allowed to, and that you won't waste money and time on a pointless forum. It does seem ironic and mundane, sig link building is quite a challenge now thanks to autobot spammers.
Some forums don't allow links even on the signature, while some forums want members to have a specific number of posts before they allow links on the signature. It's a bummer when the forum you need to participate in doesn't allow links, but go participate in it just the same especially if it is a forum that is within your niche. Participating in forums is not just for building links, it for promoting your site and building your site's reputation by providing other members with helpful info. Hope that helps. Have a good day!
Take DP for example, signature is nofollow and it is not visible to public, it is visible to forum members only, why because it shares link juice.. this is main logic behind it, many serious forums understand this thing and they try to minimize signature links and it gives to those who are posting regularly, who are contributing to the forum.
Must read Forum Guidelines before applying for signature, also check out other forum member posts whether they are posting link or not?
forum TOS becomes strict as days go by, better check and read it first before participating (admit it or not most of us doesnt really read the TOS fully )
I appreciate the responses here. When you're new to a forum, figuring out how it all works can be frustrating! Rypher21 has probably hit the nail on the head, if people would fully read all of the user policies, or rules, then it wouldn't be nearly so frustrating. But affilorama's got it right too, our sole purpose in participating in forums should not be to get links but should be to build reputation and relationships.
some people on the internet just register with an intention to build links on forums. They don't even post an intro in the introductions section and start building links in signature and then directly start promoting their websites. They don't make a useful contribution to the webmaster forums. so they get banned. Some webmaster forums do have specific rules and don't allow to have a signature till the user has a particular number of posts, and the rules of each webmaster forum do vary. If I'm not wrong, it might be a startup forum that directly allows links in the signature, for the forum to get well established.
I don`t see why not allow links in signature, you give something, and you expect something back, that`s how it works. True, there are lots of junk posters just trying to promote some business, without contributing.
