ok so i just launced a forum...how do you guys manage to start it.. i mean what are the initial posts and all that..i mean basically how is it set in motion? i need some advice..btw i cant hire posters principally coz this is a forum for my ex classamtes and friends..so i cant ask others to pretend ;-).. but...what do u think shud i do..the forums empty atm..
What is your forum about? Answer this question and then you know what and where to begin posting..... Hint: create a few threads about things that are useful to people such as auto mechanics, or cellular telephones as these always draw in traffic.
talk about teachers you liked/didnt like funny things that happened or big events what your class mates are doing now
I would start with several topics for people to post in. • Memory Lane: A place where graduates can discuss their memories of school. • Where you are now: People can discuss their jobs and life styles. • Great opportunities: A place for classmates to discuss opportunities. Example: There’s an opening at my work for a mechanic. It pays great, if anyone is qualified you should apply asap. Things like that. • The Campus: Get help or discuss college courses. Find tutors or study groups with people in your area. • The Cafeteria: Anything goes…anything outside of school. • Best websites: People can post and link they’re favorite websites for studying certain classes, etc. These are just a few ideas of what I would use. I hope it helps!
hmm..those topics are good idea! thanks o40ee.. but if only i As an Admin start posting topics..it just doesnt look good.. its better to have my friends and all participtae in it..thanks all..
Well, aside from inviting your friends and telling them to join your site, you can always pay them or find something they might be interested in.
I would format it like this here: http://www.dawgtalkers.net/ This is a Browns site I go to a lot. Use the topics I listed above as the main forum topics. Then people can post their own sub topics with in you general topic. Then just have your friend and their friends start posting. Go onto myspace and start looking for classmates. Look though classmates.com and other sites like these. As long as you can get about 10 people to start talking to eachother I think it will slowly start picking up. Especially if you can find some class mates you haven't seen in a while. It's a great way to keep in touch.
but u know i was thinking of integrating chat into it..so that it doesnt look too slow.. although forums are quite classy i feel..but still you dont get that IM'ing feel..tho PM's are pretty good..
