Hello all, I am seeking the best forum hosting options out there. Currently I am using www.greengeeks.com for my homepage (wordpress) and forum (vbulletin)

I have used 114KB of bandwidth so far this month.....my forum has over 1100 members and 120,000 posts. I average 100 daily members. Any ideas on where to host? My current host, the server I am on keeps having the MySQL crash for all of the sites on the server. This happens about once every 2 days and my site is down for 10 minutes each time. I have considered HostGator.....any thoughts/etc will help.

it sounds like you should enter the admin cp at least once per day and optimize the tables from there (should take under 5 minutes). No matter which host you go to, your databases will continue to do this due to the ratio of them being used compared to how often they need to be optimized.... More usage = more time spent optimizing regardless of host.

Also take some time and use googles pagespeed service
    http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/

Download any images that it finds to a custom directory of yours and be sure to remove the random session digits that it adds to the images... after that reupload the images and make any other neccessary changes that it suggests.

Same with what scylla said, no matter how what host, if your databaseses are not optimized, you will run into problems all the time.

However, if you have that large of a community, I would recommend getting a vps from intovps.com or something, into has some good low prices if your on a budget.

I agree with looking into a VPS especially if your community is going to grow and grow.

For a good vps, I suggest you just look at reviews on the internet, but not to sell you to into or anything, Ive had my vps there for months and I have had no issue. They are sorta new but there parent company Elvsoft has been around for years.

when shared hosting doesn't suits to your site requirements then its time to move to VPS and further to Dedicated server

I have a VPS with an unmetered plan, I could probably host you for free in return for a Moderator position or something on your forum.

I will Suggest you go for VPS with following feature
    512MB Memory
    20GB Disk Space
    1000 GB Bandwidth
    1 IP Address
    Parallels® Plesk Panel
    Parallels Virtuozzo Container

Before you buy any VPS test for few month by hiring Server consultant and Always search its review regarding support

Did you mean 110MB? or GB? Because KB isn't that much traffic at all...
