    Hi,

I have a new forum host site i'm trying to advertise, but adword and adbrite is not doing me much good. I was wondering if anyone would share a hint or two with me on where I should start advertising.

I was also thinking about paying for press releases, but i'm not sure which company is good or even if it's a good idea.

Does any have any suggestions for me?

If you have advertising budget, try Google adwords.

A press release is only a good idea if you actually have something newsworthy to say. Just launching a forum hosting service isn't newsworthy in and of itself. You need to be able to say why it's "special" - does it feature something new for the industry? Are you doing something related to the service that's otherwise timely? etc. Anything else runs the risk of damaging the service's credibility, should you ever have real news in the future that you're hoping to get coverage for.

I paid for the SEO option and was trying to do it my self yesterday for a few hours. The best I was able to do was to get the KW "phpBB" to 30% and everything else was mostly under 10%. I have a lot to learn.

There nothing really "new worthy" about it... I don't think at least. Other then the fact that it's free and no ads at all. I was thinking only charge if they would like their own domain hosted.

I hope I didn't waste $200 on a PR when adword might of been a better use for it. We'll I'll keep you guys posted how this turns out for me. Thanks for your advice and comments.

Hey there RemyXO - you could try craigslist since it is free under sml biz advertisements - the one thing you should have and zero in on are the benefits of your service, the forum host site.

as a side note - if you do write your own PR - you can save $$ by submitting to webwire and it has great SEO - make sure you include your KW in the title and don't make the title to long (like less than 5 words) - now this is purely from a SEO perspective - you've read what jhmattern said which is great advice!

    Cheers, m

    Hey Miatravel,

The thing about craigslist is that they list by states and nothing in general for the internet. Do I just pick a state to advertise it or would it be consider spam?
