I didn't know where else to post this. I am looking for tips on building my forum. Getting more members and getting more posts.

    Any thoughts?

    1. Pay people to post at your forum.
    2. Start contests on your forum.
    3. Be an active Admin.
    4. Get your forum reviewed.
    5. Post articles on your forum and then submit them to article directories, such as these and Blogsip.
    6. Submit your forum to directories.
    7. Buy advertising space on related sites.
    8. Do post exchanges.
    9. Do link exchanges.

These are all the steps I took to get Build Your Forum active.

I dunno, I'm highly agains paying to post. Some companys want upwords of .15-.25 per post. It may only take a second or two per post. Your best bet is to get a day that you have free and make multiple user accounts 10-20 and start posting with them all and replying to all of your threads. That alone won't do anything unless you get your name out their though. If no one visits your site, no one is going to post ;)

Get paid posters, you dont want your forum to look unactive.

My site has posters and members. I have over 800 members now but I am looking for ways to promote the site, boost membership, and encourage members to actively post.

thanks for the advice and keep it coming

Would recommend against paying people - you really need people who know about the topic you want to discuss on your forum. IMO not many people will have knowledge of archery in a webmaster forum.

Try a forum like http://www.aardvarksport.net/chat - put the forum link in your signature and you might get some signups through that if you participate yourself.
