forum backlinks PR?

People frequently posts for exapmple PR6 and PR7 forums there, where we can get baclinks. I noticed that the threads are usually have much lower PR like PR4 or PR3, and inside the thread the pages (eg. page 11 or page 7) where we exactly place our comment are most likely have PR1 or PR0. I was wondering does it mean that the value of these links are equivalent with the value of backlinks on some crappy PR0 or PR1 sites? What do you think about it?

It is doesn't have mean the same. Google is concentrated all his algorithms around quality, so crappy site will bring to you crappy value, no big matter with PR on it!

I'd worry more about the content than the PR of a page. Related content on a well indexed website has some SERP value.

A link is a link. Everything helps for the most part, unless it is a site that has a penalty on it. For instance, people say forum profile links are pointless but I can obtain thousands of internal backlinks from the forum to the profile in an hour and create high authority links. Creativity is key to successful SEO!

The one method that work link exchange with some related site because you can check everything before placing your link - content, position of link, outbound links, quality, last cache by google, dofollow (great improvement in ranking)

The second method is paid linking (till your wallet allows)

About forums - some thing is better than nothing

Using this forum as an example (This is a good forum): the fact that there are 1.3 million posts just in the google sub-forum means that whatever PR-juice there is here, it is divided by millions by the time you make a post. Is it worth the effort?

I think there is only one guy above in this thread who is getting some juice: dbinto has been here a while and made 787 posts. So his PR juice from participating here is divided by maybe <10000 and not millions.

Its simple........ PR0 page link (thread) of high quality forum is too much better than crappy PR1+ sites.
May be crappy site's backlink harmful to your site stats.

So PR is less important than quality of the site in terms of the value of the backlink? Then why do they have the better PR? This isn't making sense to me.

In general, Google has devalued all easy methods of gaining back links. Forum posts, forum signatures, blog comments, etc., will not give the link strength of a 1-way link from a good website.
