I have finally decided to take the plunge and format my laptop to get rid of Vista.

My problem is i have put in my XP CD and it says press any button to load from CD, so i do.

After that it started loading files then i had the blue screen of death. I then tried it a few more times and the same thing but the last time said corrupt file sfloppy something - which i dont have a floppy drive on my laptop so im a little confused.

    Can anyone help out?

I think it was designed for Vista and is not backward compatibile, that is why you are getting the Blue Screen of Death, try installing Vista and ensure if you get error while Installing it :)

I would use the old faithful FDISK. Delete all non-dos partitions....then run Windows XP setup. If it happens again, there is a good chance the XP CD is scratched somewhere. I've had this happen to me before.

Buddy, if you know DOS then you can format your HDD with that and then you can easily install XP but if you dont know and nothing is helping you out then I have one more solution. Although its a long process but still effective. You first install vista on the same location. Then install XP on some other drive. Boot your laptop through XP and then go to drive management of MY computer. From there you format that drive where vista is installed. This will totally remove vista. But when you will start your system it show you that there was vista due to cache files in BIOS but not to worry about that as next time when you format your system, remember it to format on that drive where vista was. That msg will be also removed. I know its a long process but buddy believe me, your problem will be solved by this. :)

I am not sure but if you can enter the process till where it asks in which drive you want to install. There delete all the drive and create new partitions and try. i think this will help you!

Try with a different XP CD. Corrupted sectors on CD may cause this..
