    They are only a legit link building strategy if the people that actually read what your are linking to, and link back in return.

    The theory of 'spammin and jammin' as you call it, just does not work. Remember that there are people on the other end of those bookmarks that 'choose' to link to you or not. And it is in the hands of those people that determine your popularity.

    Sure, like spam email, you may pick up some suckers. But consider the suckers in general. If you were to go up to anyone of them and ask why they bought a product, would you believe there testimonial?

    The same goes for the bookmarks. Are they worth linking to? If you look at any link, would you click on it?

    The amount of links DO NOT count. The quality of links DO.

    People who spam and jam, get what they ask for. They get nothing from the links than noise. Noise that gets filtered out by logic. And the same logic will filter out thousands of links that gets generated everyday.
