Forget about Do-follow list, JUST USE THIS SEARCH QUERY

Put this search query into google had you'll have far better means of getting one way inbound links to your site:

    --------

ENTER YOUR TARGET KEYWORD "Remember my personal information" "Notify me of follow-up comments"

    --------

so if your site is related to football, enter the following into google:

football "Remember my personal information" "Notify me of follow-up comments"

You'll find that on LOADS of the resulting pages allow you to add comments etc. including a link to your site. There's tonnes of PR4 (and higher) links out there.

Yes but the majority of those links are nofollow. Is there any way to tweak the search term for only dofollow links?

That is a good way to get blogs to comment on, but without top commentator or a do follow plugin that will still result in useless (for SEO) links.

Unfortunately, a lot of the blogs on "Do Follow" lists are actually No Follow, too. Sometimes you just have to check the source code for yourself.

This was a good suggestion from the OP. :)

Yes there is. If the person who started this thread would have linked to the original blog post that this hint came from (and gave credit where credit is due), then you all would have learned a lot more.

And don't bother asking me how to do it. I think a lot of people already know my stance on raiding dofollow blogs and why it is not a worthwhile/long-term method of link building. Sorry.

Actually the correct way would be KEYWORD "dofollow". I just do View Source and look at the comments to see if they're nofollow.

Angela is right; a lot of the blogs on these lists are not dofollow. That doesn't include mine though. ;)

I have heard that you can still get a little love from the SERPs with -nofollow links, they aren't as good as do follow but they still count for something...

Commenting useless inf on blogs is going to be looked at as spammy in google's eyes. I suggest you find other ways to get backlinks for the longer run.

    AND

True in some respects that social bookmarking friends will help 'promote' your site.

False that it is an easy way to get backlinks.

True that it may help in getting you indexed.

Social bookmarking, as the word social implies, is about socializing. Whether it be Dugg, Delicious, Twitter, or whatever. You still have to socialize with the outside world.

If the outside world does not care about anything you have to say, then they will not Dig, Bookmark, or Tag you.

Social Bookmarking is not about the links, but about how you promote yourself (or website) in the eyes of other markers. There is no 'link value', there is only 'you value'. You score big when others bookmark you, then the links come from them.

First, this thread is dumb. The whole point of the dofollow blog lists is to find blogs that will pass link juice, even if its minimal. However, like any other list, you should scrub it first. Do an audit of each site yourself to find the ones that actually follow. A lot of them don't anymore. On the subject of social bookmarking and social media, both are a legit link building strategy that does work. I can't say how well it works in terms of quality links, but if you just want to start spammin and jammin some backlinks, you might as well blast to as many as possible.
