I purchased a domain about 6 months ago, and then I didnt use it till this month. It was just parked at namecheap. And now when I got the site up and hosted, I check it, and it says my pagerank is forged. Well my question is how do you uh, Un-Forge it? lol

I have been seeing more sites, especially ones people are selling, using this tactic. It just goes to show how much Google itself adversely effects its own index. They have made PR so "important" to SERP and fail to fix the bug that causes this. Anyone can 301 their website to a higher PR site and get that sites PR after the next PR update. Until Google fixes the bug this will continue to be a problem. You will have to wait until the next PR update, which is supposed to happen in a few weeks according to calculations. I just can't believe they leave such a big whole in their algorithm for swindlers like the person who sold you the site to get rich off of. It is fraud and there should be some legal avenue you can take, but I'm no lawyer. People are using this for personal profit, whether it be to sell ads on their fake PR 5 site, or sell a site of a supposed PR to someone else. I have been very cautious about purchasing any sites for this reason. I figure I will just register my own and build them up and wait for their age to kick in, it is much safer.

Always check a used domain to see if it's page rank is fake before purchasing it (if that plays a part in your purchase). This is one of the best tools available to check.

Strange, I just used that link on one of my sites and it couldn't find a page rank and said it was suspicious although I know for certain it isn't.

I then tried this page rank tool which was fine. So the moral is don't rely on one tool alone.

    Wow, man.

People still doing that 301 and getting away with it.

BTw, on IE, it gets the pagerank data before the actual site. Anybody know if fake PageRanks show up on IE as well. I'm talking about IE 6.

First confirm whether its FAKE or NON-CONFIRMED using digpagerank tool ;)

Though in both cases you need to build backlinks to make it GREEN.

But if its FAKE then you will have to wait for 2 updates and if its ORANGE {in digpagerank tool} then you can have green in single pr update ;)
