    Susie, A faked or forged page rank means that the PR value for a site is actually not for that site.
    It is commonly done with 301, 302 redirects, and or meta refresh tags.

    So if www.fakesite.com has a PR5, and you check it at checkpagerank.net and it says"pagerak seems to be forged", then www.fakesite.com is getting (or got) it's PR from another valid PR site. It will show you the url after checking the PR. If it says any other site except fakesite.com, then the PR is fake.

    There are instances when a fake PR does not mean the webmaster is trying to pull a fast one. I recently redirected one of my domains to another domain I owned, until I could get some changes on it, and it picked up a PR1 from my other site. But, it definitely shows as a fake PR.

    Some people do it to inflate the pagerank of a domain in hopes of selling them for high $. Not all pagerank checkers will determine or specify if a PR is valid or fake. And not everyone knows about fake PR. There are actually 2 PR4 domains being sold on eBay right now from the same seller, that are coming up as fake PR at checkpagerank.net.

    The seller may or may not be aware of it, not for me to say, but it's always important to verify the PR as valid if your looking at spending a lot of money for them.

    By the way, I just used fakesite.com as an example. There is a real domain named fakesite.com with a PR4 that is valid.
