Hi guys, Can anyone offer me some direction with the bellow? I want to start doing business in India and open either a business or personal account in India. I spoke to Citi who stated that I can’t open a Non Resident as I am not Indian (I’m Australian) Does anyone know if any Indian banks allow foreign nationals who are permanently based in overseas to pen an account in India? I am more than happy to go to India if it helps. Thanks
if you are on a visa to india, i think you can. if you haven't visited india or not in india at the time of opening, Indian banks would give you a really hard time, mainly due to the security restrictions in place..
When we have a small charity.. and some foreign nationals wanted to support, we enquired, about last august, but could not find any solution to open a direct foreign national, who either visits india or stays abroad. So we ve found a solution, that our supports just opend an account with ICICI uk plc. and as I have a Indian ICICI. so they transfer some funds usually which takes just 2days for the expense of 2#. Thus they have a hold on their funds, just release, how much needed, and when needed. But when they were here with the Card, just can withdraw money from Indian ATMs. its obvious, you need an india, as your representative, and get run your business. Just we did with an italian company of people. We opened an account with HDFC just a week ago. I am the overseer. they pay me a small fee for the service... hope its helped///
