Audis and BMWs are probably the least reliable cars you can buy. Great performance, when they're working. Mercades are somewhat better. Plus they're really expensive, in the U.S. at least. The nice thing about Toyotas is that they're cheap, extremely reliable and cheap to maintain. A Camry won't win any beauty contests, but it's a great workhouse. I personally drive a Honda, I love'em.
I don't think new(er) Audis and BMW have the issues they've had in the past. Toyotas and Hondas are good cars, I agree. Pretty much all American-made cars suck balls!
Show me a daily driven foreign car capable of almost 260,000 miles (not km) that has an original motor, give me a break, foreign cars are for the most part garbage IMHO other than honda, and BMW.
And your still anti-american.. What is your point? And your a stinky boogerhead, see I can be like you!
Anti-American....cars, yeah! American cars suck balls- IMO Who the F. drives cars to 260K miles anyway?
Me! I don't really understand the hostility. What is the problem CR? Man, get the sand out of your vagina and grow up.
hehe. On the recent JD Power and associates report, BMW was rated second (or maybe third, I believe) in reliability. Honda was a little further down the charts. I have driven BMW for years and never had any problems. Speaking of which, I am getting my new X5 next week.
That's funny! Henny telling ME to grow up! HA! Good for you, ace! Which model? And where do you live?
Crazy_Rob I am with you on Anti-American. I am going to blow our Ford up soon because it's more problems then anything lol.
Yeah, they suck. I had a Grand Am as my first car and the thing had more problems than all of my other cars combined. My parents also had one American-made car and it was a hunk-o-junk too. It was a brand new Cadillac and after a few months the steering was so bad that it felt like the car was out of control all of the time. And do I even need to mention the interior and controls of American-made cars? uke:
I had a grand-am when I was in college. What is up with the way the interior smells when it gets hot in there? I thought it was poisonous for a while. Something about the material in the dashboard that made it smell like a cess-pool. Grandam was the only car I had where the cooling system went out; transmission failed, AC stopped working, all on a 6 year old car. Crazy man.
hahahahaha .. kahh kahh, sorry Is that car for human? Or Robocop? I mean Robo Chief. In Europe people will think that car is from Mars Exploration program, or that is car of some russian tycoon. BTW, 250.000 miles is nothing. Every single taxi car here is over a million km. Audi, Opel, VW and this one. Even Yugo can go over 150k-200k miles.
That's true. You never see many more old imports than you do dometics here. Most German-made cars are built to run for 300,000 miles anyway.
Yes, agree, Rob. Germans cars are like tanks from WWII. "If you want car with great long lasting engine buy german. If you like comfort buy french." That is for cars here. Additionally: if you want mix with future unknown buy swedish Saab.
You buying Porsche becouse it is german? Try secondhand Opel Ascona? I think it is cheaper for a little.
Consumer Reports has this to say: http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/08/pf/autos/cr_auto_reliability/ Don't get me wrong, I love the ways BMWs look and drive. I'd love to own an M3, if I could afford it. Everything I read tells me german cars have crappy reliability, and I know tons of people with BMWs, Audis, and Mercades. All of them are in the shop, a lot. My 2001 Honda Prelude has 63,000 miles, never been in the shop once. The only maintenance I've ever done is oil changes, a few tune ups, and replacing some belt at 60,000 miles.
