It seems that even on my music website, that FordVehicles.com has taken over and that I see this ad everywhere now. Is it a high-paying ad or why did it suddenly take priority over all my other ads??

LMAO! That ad is showing to me here on DP! I was wondering why?

I was shopping for a Lincoln last night and thought adsense was doing the search cookie thing for relevence like my experience with real estate.

I noticed yet ANOTHER flash ad show up on my music homepage about Ford. It seems like they are just taking a big strike across the adsense network to make a push for Christmas season of the Ford Explorers...

Do you suspect that it runs as a CPM ad on your site? If so, you don't get paid for clicks

It's the end of year cash dump for a lot of big companies. If they don't use all of the advertising budget they were given this year they'll have a hard time getting the same (or more) dollars to play with next year.

they're getting desperate like the other "BIG 2"

someone was told to SELL some vehicles SOON or else. ;)

i don't want to turn this into a big 3 auto makers thread, but i suppose years and years of corporate greed, arrogance and excess would lead to "desperate measures" eventually.

    IMO.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if it were not for the folks that actually work in the plants, I'd love to see GM crash and burn because of how out of touch and arrogant they are. Ford is not much better. Daimler was the salvation for Chrysler.

I'm still wondering WHY. They aren't relevant to my site's content at ALL. They shouldn't be displayed on my site(s)..it's just weird to me.

CPM ads can run on any site regardless of content.

Brand recognition is one reason. Your eCPM is probably cheap enough for them to afford and your audience probably qualify to be potential buyers (i doubt they select CPM sites after reviewing them manually though). So, even if no one clicks and buys their cars from your site today, your visitors are likely to pay a visit to their site eventually (or so ford marketing ppl think)

For the purpose of this thread. It's marketing.... what do you mean it's not relevant???? Do you not drive a car???? Most people have cars and therefor just about any site is a good place for the ad to run.

Remember the auto industry has one of the biggest marketing budgets. ;)

I think Ford is trying to become #2 in the industry. From reports I heard Toyota is heading to be the world's #1 automaker sometime in 2007 or so. I love non-american cars but at the same time our state's business is hurting as well and that means less jobs :(

I can see why no one loves Michigan though - Weather is bad, business is bad, etc.

PS. Sorry for going off-topic but I had to put my 2 cents in this Ford crap.

In many ways I see how this marketing strategy could pay off for Ford. Even if they are paying high dollar for those AdSense ads, if they sell a few thousand Explorers it more than makes up for it. I just wonder that if this is successful for them if we don't see GM, Toyota, and others flooding the AdSense airwaves.

Big Biz Pisses away ad money cause they can tax deduct it. They could care less if they sell a car with this money IMO. They are balancing books probably.

Good forbid that money be income and they have to pay taxes on it to bebefit the good old USA!

Is there a way to block this ad? I tried adding the URL to my competitive ad filter but no luck.
