For who remembers Burf.com Search engine

Hey all who remembers me and my project, just to let you know Burf.com is still around, about to get a complete redesign over the next few days and now has a slightly better result set (remember its not a meta engine).

I been working on caching, making the results make more sense and decided to scrap what I had (lol) and coding a fresh engine as we speak (someone reminded me of this forum)

Its also going to have the usual image, video, media search functions provided by 3rd parties

Be nice to see if anyone remember the engine

Thanks for the updates as I love to see independent engines get better. I think I have submitted one of my sites to your engine many times over the last couple of years, but never seem to get indexed. The site is a web directory (just submitted again) without any ads or such and should be legit by all accounts, so I am not sure why it never seems to get indexed. Any ideas?

 

It should get indexed mate, pm me a list of your sites and I will make sure they do.

Quite a cool search engine but is it just me or do the pages load very slow when searching?

I would love to, can I get the new desgin out first?

The searches: I am trying to get these to go faster but my hardware is not great, the cache is still being populated and the ranking system for pages is getting bigger and bigger. I am working on a completely new backend based off dmoz as a basic data set and using a lot more memory for arrays

Well the new site has been mostly released, still got a few thing to do with the older content, however I am free for interviewing now if you would like!

Its getting there just bloody slow for some reason, the mp3 and video search works quite well

it says http://kannada4u.com already existed in our search engine but will be reindexed shortly.

Nice! I'm always rooting for the new guys in this market.

One suggestion - say I search for "video game news". On the results page the query shows up as "video%20game%20news" in both the search box and the "Search results for:". I know this is purely aesthetic but it did catch my eye immediately.

Also if you need help with design I'd love to lend a hand. PM me.

 

I sorted that bug out and thanks for noticing it. I will try to priorise your listings
