I was laughing as i read this thread......I thought....Some day maybe I'll come up with an ebook..Its will be a 3 page Ebook...

    Page 1....
    (Author name and stuffs)
Page 2.... I'll advice my readers that the best way to make quick money is to write a ebook and tell people how you made $XX,XXX amount is XX days...by selling the ebook.
Page 3..... Advice: never buy an ebook...

I'll open a thread in DP.....Learn How I made $18,777 is 30 days....for only $9.......I'll give away 2 review copies....The first two person who will review my book will write on my thread ---

"its a very simple method....bla bla bla........if you work hard on it its possible"....

Then I'll sell about 20-30 copies...and after that DP will be flooded with ebooks (as those 20-30 people will start selling their own ebooks)....and my thread will be lost.

So conclusion - Don't waste your money on these ebooks....if someone is successful in IM usually he will never share his secret for 10 bucks.. The main thing is the "Experience" and I don't think you can learn that by reading any book.

It could be bad if they preferred content/links where they get more money of, in stead of using the valuable content/links.

this whole idea of great content is novel!

to quote the movie Tommy Boy "It's called reading! Top to bottom, left to right... a group of words together is called a sentence."

Look around, do a bit of searching and dont' be afraid to read. Some of the best information on making money online I've found in free e-books. I've never spent money find out the information. Oh and DP is full of great and horrible free information, so use your discretion!

Oh just a question.... How are the concepts of believing in yourself, surrounding yourself with successful people and become successful, taking action, and Building Relationships proof that ebooks aren't crap? I think my dad told me all those things when I went away to college and it had nothing to do with an eBook!

Most of the ebooks that I have read rarely give any unique and practical information about SEO...most of them are already known and quite common stuffs and mostly available for free...so its no point paying for somethings that you can get for FREE.
The ebooks that I really found quite useful and inspiring were the ones that narrate the true success stories and their way to success in the internet business.:)

Even the most worthless garbage can sometimes provide you with small granules of truth. I think e-books fall into this catagory. It would be difficult to find one worth paying for. But that doesn't they are pointless.

My problem is not that the ebooks are wrong, but that they are just outragously priced. I mean i've seen ebooks being sold for 1000$ plus.
Most of which info you could find here at digitalpoint.

I agree with propstm. It is not that the cliches you listed don't have some truth to them. It's that if you need to read a book to learn them then ebooks are the least of your worries.

    I've read tonnes of ebooks.

    They are either
    a) scams
    b) techniques which will get you banned from any network
    c) b/s
    d) drivel.

    or all of the above.

I agree fully with other posters. DP and other sites have useful information for free.

Why even care what others think?

Unless you're selling them something, who cares.

There are crappy e-books and crappy print books. Big deal.

Sohan, you said it right. All that stuff in those ebooks can be found here on DP. You can learn more here just reading the forums than you can from those ebooks.

Oh dont worry, I dont lose sleep over it...theres plenty of excellent ebooks I've read and plenty of money to make from them. I just wanted to get through to some people that not "all" ebooks are bad, and some of them are good but you need to take action and do what they say, on a consistent basis to see results.

Even if I get 1 or 2 good ideas from an ebook it worth it to me, as I can apply them to my business and increase my traffic/profits.

Yes, and good/bad is a matter of perspective. For instance, let's say there was something I didn't know. You had an e-book that would tell me everything. It was $50. Or I could visit a forum and spend say 4 hours or so getting the same info.

I'd buy the book. Why? Because 4 hours of my time (hell, one hour) is worth more than $50.

Many don't grasp the concept that their time isn't free. So, just because the info in a book is "around the Internet," doesn't make the book bad.

And I agree with you. I allocate roughly $5,000 annually for book purchases (real world printed books). And I'll spend some money on e-books too.

I might buy a book on something that I'm somewhat familiar with. But, if I learn one thing or get inspired, that $40 will be a justified expense.

If my time were worth $1 or less per hour, I guess I'd sit on forums and rely on them for my education too.

Like I said, it's all perspective.

i have never come across an e-book that was solid enough to give me some high-end quality (for the price it was paid for). With that said, I learned most by trial and error and asking for help in the forums.

I am pretty interested in reading e-books though my mother tongue is non english :(
I like to read books about SEO and adsense and forex stuff, though I have to admit that some e-books are really craps and damn expensive!!

But luckily I found some e-books at very cheap price on some online stores and they turned out to be really GOOD! So price is not really important in finding good e-books. What is most important is your time to find the e-books.
