For the life of me, I can't get Quality Score up.

Hi everyone. This my first post to the forum. Thank you in advance for listening and helping out.

I have an ad for 2 keywords, "Printing Plates" and "Offset Printing Plates"

The ad for them is:Offset Printing Plates | printingsuppliesdirect.com
    www.printingsuppliesdirect.com/Plate
All Printing Plates Supplied | Same day turnaround & Free Shipping

They are directed to this page: printingsuppliesdirect.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1

The Quality score for those 2 keywords are 4/10 and 3/10 respectively. They do rank in the #1 and #2 spot on Google for those keywords, but I suspect the CPC is a little high because the quality scores are low. I also have them as Exact matches. For "Offset Printing Plates", the ad relevance is being shown as below average.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I feel like I have done everything correctly on these ads and the landing page they go to for relevancy.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    -Brian

    Hi,

your ad QS does is determined by few more factors other than the landing page relevancy. For example

    • our keyword's past clickthrough rate (CTR): How often that keyword led to clicks on your ad
    • Your display URL's past CTR: How often you received clicks with your display URL
    • Your account history: The overall CTR of all the ads and keywords in your account
    • The quality of your landing page: How relevant, transparent, and easy-to-navigate your page is
    • Your keyword/ad relevance: How relevant your keyword is to your ads
    • Your keyword/search relevance: How relevant your keyword is to what a customer searches for
    • Geographic performance: How successful your account has been in the regions you're targeting
    • Your ad's performance on a site: How well your ad's been doing on this and similar sites (if you're targeting the Display Network)

Talking aobut relevancy, I tried looking at your site landing page. keyword one appeared 1 time and 2nd keyword is not even mentioned. Would suggest try imporving here and add some more text content as well other than links.

Once you have checked this, visit the link below which might give some hint on how u can improve your ad quality.

As mentioned in above post, the major portion of QS is CTR. Specifically, your CTR relative to that of competitors in those positions. In other words, you need to have more attractive ads and looking at what you gave us, I am not surprised. Very blah. You're not giving me a reason to click that ad. Remember you can have more than one and test which does best.

You should have more than just two keywords in exact match. Try other keywords, other matches. Learn from this. In fact, go longer tail. Why not keywords on specific plates such as newspaper, one sided, negative and all that. Also, land the click on more appropriate page, you'll get more sales this way. People don't want to start having to click to find what they want, what they asked for in the first place.

You're right about the QS: bring it up and your CPC will come down, probably half or less of what you're paying now.
