If you have a decent host or dedicated server this site will do really well. When I first put it up a couple months ago on a load balancing server network its uptime was 100% and traffic and revenue were booming. It was making nearly $100 the first two weeks. Then as the host changed their TOS to not allow proxy sites anymore the site began to slow down midway through June. The site was then bounced around to almost a half-dozen hosts so revenue and traffic were lower.

Traffic has been picking up steading and the majority of traffic is coming from the United States which PPC providers Love! Put it on a reliable host and the traffic will surely pick up and so will the revenue.

I have never advertised the site except for a free link exchange with proxy.org. With nearly 85,000 pageviews per day you can make a fortune selling link space. With a little advertising and link space sale you can turn a pretty penny. I am selling to devote more time to a couple new projects and my 1 year old daughter. She takes up most of my time now adays

@eXe - I removed CTR and Clicks b/c Adsense does not allow them to be displayed. I can do a normal screen shot if needed but that is the exact data.

@instyle - As mentioned in my original post, I do not spend anything on promoting. I have a free link on proxy.org and that is it. The reason for the stats going down is also explained, ever since my first host I have been having to find a new host just about every other day who will allow proxy sites. This is why I suggest to the new owner to put on a dedicated plan or find a webhost who allows proxy sites. The traffic has been only going up over the last several weeks because I have not had to move the site. Once the word of mouth goes out about it being back up, traffic will go up too.

@snake2k5 - I do not understand your question. Are you trying to access a site through the proxy? If so, and the site you are trying to access is password protected i.e.) Myspace I would recommend using CGI Proxy instead of the Php Proxy the site is using. Both are free scripts and if the new owner wished to have CGI Proxy incorporated into the site, I will do it free of charge. This will allow members to connect to MySpace, etc.

How much server load would a site like this generate? I guess, how good of a server would you need to run the site? Also, do you think that a VPS would work?

 

The host it was on the other day said it was using up roughly 30% of the processor. I don't think they had a very fast server b/c I have it on my dedicated server right now and the load is only at 0.20 and it has 1 cpu amd 3800 with 2gb ram

I am going to be switching the script over to cgi proxy likely and sell adspots on the site as it gets btw 80k-100k pageviews per day. I was looking to get over $1k for the site, but the numbers will likely need to come back up some before that happens. Although the traffic is there, it is just marketing it and putting adspots accordingly. The numbers I posted is only from the small adsense line ad at the top.

A VPS should work fine.

Once it finds a steady home the traffic will be over 1k per day with a little advertising and won't have any trouble getting to to over $100/mo easily. Then it will be a couple grand site, so it all depends if I sell now and the new owner advertises it and makes a profit, or I hold on to it and sell for a larger amount in a couple months.
