Hi if you type "how to do things" in google, u can see that "how to do things" is bolded in the title of the website www.howtodothings.com but in the url, only "dothings" is bolded, Does that means google doesnt recognize "how to" as a keyword in the URLS ? is it like a google operator or something ? same thing with "howtohut.com", howtohut.com is less etablished than howtodothings.com and when you search for "how to hut" the website "howtohut".com is nowhere in google, normally this website should rank #1 as its 100% relevant to "how to hut" and its not a competitive keyword at all.. anyone has an explanation for this? i need to know because am considerng buying a "howto" domain name to target a "how to" keyword, but now am not sure if there is any advantage.. thanks.
If you type 'how to do stuff' into Google, look at the line that starts with "Results 1 - 10 of about 332,000,000". You'll notice that 'how to' is bolded as one keyword. Google recognizes it as a keyword together.
yes i noticed that for, but its strange, why its not bolded in the urls ? and i just noticed that "how" too never get bolded in the urls like "www.howstuffworks.com" if you search "how stuff works" only stuffworks is bolded
How To does get recognized in certain instances - just far and few between. Don't exactly understand Google's interpretation of HOW TO either.
but searches from "how to drive cars" differ from those for "drive cars" so i guess it does pay importance to this words... Anyway nice observation.
okay i figured it out, "How to" is among what google considere as "stop words" and is ignored by their algo, for more infos: Google page about stop words: http://images.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=981&topic=352 Stop words in domain names: http://news.stepforth.com/blog/2006/12/seo-answers-9-domain-stop-words.php cheers.
