For Bidding Directories I would like to see...

I bid on a couple directories and kind of forgot about them for awhile. I recently remembered, so I went to check and saw that I am no longer on the top 10 homepage.

It would be nice if I received an automatic email telling me
"your bid has just been pushed out of the top 10 from a higher bid. If you would like to re-bid go to ....... and bid again. thank you."

I think that would be a smart thing for bid directory owners and a good service for us bidders since we would like to know where our money is esp. if got "pushed" down.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks.

Yes, the phpLD version we already have a strong engine for doing emails, and this would not take long to implement. We have 4 users running it now, and we are doing some tests and improvements to make sure everything it rock solid.

That feature is a good idea, but does it mean one can get emails several times a day if there is an active competition going on?

I always thought that was already a feature, it is a 'must have' for a bidding script.

Yes. If I was in a bidding match I would need to know every time I was outbid.

I don't think there is a bidding directory that crazy though?
    If there is, NICE!

I wonder what your motivation for being on the front page is. Is it for exposure and thus traffic or is it for the pr benefits. If you are doing it solely for the pr benefits I would refrain from constantly bidding yourself to the top. The psychology of bidding dictates that the more frequently something is bid on the faster the price will rise. The smarter tactic would be to wait until a pr update being imminent. Then bid your way to the top. This would save you money.

"smarter tactic would be to wait until a pr update being imminent. Then bid your way to the top. This would save you money." - If it were only that easy, no one knows exactly when the PR update will happen and the backlink update happens 2-3 weeks prior to the tool bar update itself so it would be really hard to figure this one out.

Well, on OurEcoHouse you can choose how often you want to be informed (Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Never) and how much you need to donate if you want to be in top 10 or in top 50. ;)
