Hi! I have a bunch of questions- I'm wondering what others think of eWay as a merchant/payment gateway? Was/is their service good? Signup process easy? Which bank do use with them and why? How much does your bank charge for having an "internet merchant facility"? Do you have a separate bank account for your online income from your regular account?..and if i was to get eway to contact the bank,i would already need to notify the bank?? Of the banks eWay accepts..that you use..which don't require a business plan? I think thats all I'm wondering about for now.. thanks, Arcanus
i think eway as a company are ok. they are expensive so work out that first, there are cheaper options (paypal dare i say.....). On paypal, I am considering moving my 30-50k a month that i do through a merchant facility over to paypal, but am not so sure with all the dramas i hear, I need to find out about them first. i went with manual processing, commbank set up with a company called merchantlink.com.au, very helpful, and helped me set it up to allow for trading online. Havent had an issue yet. set up seperate bank account, know where your money is coming from and going out at a glance. On to bad banks. I will never for as long as i live, go with anz and st george they dont care about startups, and dont care about giving good rates, over 2.5%. Depending on what your doing, they may not look at you (even if the sales staff say otherwise) after giving them business plans, they gave me nothing, i will never waste my time with them.
thanks. I was intending to open separate account, even as a main reason for my own identity protection. hmm..i was thinking of going with st george..i have a banksa account..was thinking of sticking with banksa..but they are owned by st george.. i owe money on my comm bank..so i'm not touching them. I'm not touching paypal if i can help it. Any large volume's of cash are held up,and they can freeze your account indefinitely. eway are offering no set up fees at the moment. san321,may i ask what business you in? strange, eway have a partnership with st george..maybe i should sign up..get the ball rolling..and see what happens..not that i can really afford to pay anything when i'm not starting until sept.. How much did commonwealth bank charge to set your merchant account?
yeah paypalsucks.com scared me away from them, though i never had any problem with the limited times i have used them. I sell IT products and services, printers, notebooks etc, dont want to give url. also have a stack of other sideline projects im working on, as my main business runs itself with only one staff member. The gear i sell is high risk according to banks. Comm bank, through merchantlink, charged me 79 setup fee. 1.17 is my visa/mc rate try get that out of st george or anyone else.... just as a final note on paypal, trying them when your first starting out might not be such a bad idea......
