There are plenty of Americans who would love to have those same jobs. Only difference is they being legal can`t be exploited and overworked and underpaid in the way an illegal alien can.
Illegal immigration should be stopped and those already in the US should be given the chance to become legal. And if they do not comply they and those that knowingly employ them illegally should be held accountable.
Also once they are legally able to work here they should be paid equally and according to the same standards as any other American.

Peer pressure is a strong motivator, thats true, but to go from that to say that immigrants are more likely to be criminals is to big a step.

Well actually we are not only talking about peer pressure from an invidual perspective but also from a communal perspektive. Multicultural influense + Bad integration + Bad assimilation. Multicultural influense is not a problem as long as the integration and the assimilation works well. But when the immigration get's out of control, such as in western Europe, it slows the economy, increase the crimerate, creates poor suburbs and increase public stupidity. If we can't handle the massive amount we get every years, than why should we import them?

Immigrants are more likely to be criminals due to the fact that they don't get integrated and assimilated enough. Many can't even speak swedish properly after 5 years and can't get a job because the employers rarely hire an immigrants. The employer knows that it's not a safe card to put trust in due to facts I mentioned above.

I am not against limited quality immigration, tough.

I think the immigration process should be faster and easier. If this was the case, I can bet my house that there would be A LOT less illegals present.

I personally am trying to immigrate to the USA, and it is really tough. No matter under what status I apply, the matter of time I have to wait to be granted "permanent residency" a.k.a Green Card is measured in YEARS. Is this fair?

Poverty is one of the main ingredients of violence and dehumanitization and immigration. If people are well off and live a decent, full, comfortable life, with access to clean water, good food and a good social environment the last thing in their minds will be to throw it all away. What we have is a global problem due to the greed creating by big corporations not only in this country but throughout the world. The world has to function as a community and strive to better the living standards for all inhabitants across the board. Hopefully than we can have some stability in the planet, until then the rising cost of living coupled with a tense political arena things are looking tough.

I cannot imagine a situation where that would not be true.

I don't know if a "fair" standard can truly be applied. It certainly is not "intelligent" of a county to delay the entry of talented or hard-working immigrants.

The only "fairness" standard I can think of would be to examine how bloody impossible it is for me as an American to obtain a work permit in Australia.

I don't think you would want to live, let alone work in Australia. I cannot wait to leave this place ;)

That's one of the really ugly stories of immigration laws -- breaking up families.

I hope that you eventually work your way through the beauracratic red tape and manage to find your way to the U.S.
