Footer question

    Hi,

    I need one info.

I have website with 40 pages.
Should I have same targeted keyword in the footer on every page of the site, as it shows on the first page of website (on index.html page), or every page should have its own footer (targeted keywords related for one page) ?

Ie. my footer of index.html consists of a couple of links and lets say targeted keyword "supermen".

Should the rest of pages have same footer with "supermen" keyword in it even it is not targeted keyword on that pages, or every page needs to have its own targeted keyword in the footer?

I have already put different keywords for each page, but ask this because I read in one seo ebook that every page needs to have same footer (with same keywords taken from index.html).

the footer should serve text links to important pages on your site, usually the same as what is found in the header. you can also include copyright info, contact details and privacy/terms links.

don't break this convention for SEO purposes, it will have no effect, if not a negative effect, on results.

    Hi,
its really a nice question.Use the keyword which you feel the important as footer links.
for example u may use your home page targeted keyword as footer link in every page that shows an hyper link for your home page.this may increase the weightage to your keyword.

A footer text is as imporant as your body text content. You can try, "Yourdomain.com, Your keyword or your blog description with your keyword with a link to one of those most important pages in the blog.”

So you get the idea.If possible, keep the category links at the footer, this will help the crawler know what the stuff is on your page. This s because, crawlers give more or same importance to the footer text(or what they see last on the code) than the content on the page.

If you have 40 pages then I would link to the 5-8 most imporant pages on your site from your footer. I would used the most important keyword phrase that each page is trying to rank for as the link text in the footer. If these same links appear in the main navigation of the site, then use a different keyword phrase for the footer hyperlink. It's good to vary your link text when you have multiple links to the same URL on the same page. I would suggest that you use a keyword phrase from the <title> of the target page (or a slight variation) as the link text in the hyperlinks.

It is not necessary to do that. Just put your major keywords along with your major navigation. Just make sure that you don't spam all your keywords on the footer. You will not going to enjoy the penalty for sure :)

Seems like i didnt explain well what i wanted to ask.
Zeruel is the closest to my question.

Here again, this is how my footer looks like for each page:
Footer contains several links which are same on every page (contact, privacy policy, and a couple more) + targeted keyword which is same as in the title of the seperate page (and it is not hyperlinked) + sitename.com (not hyperlinked).

So, lets say my index.html has <title>superman</title> ... and the footer is with hyperlinks (contact, privacy policy, ebook) <br/> (not hyperlinked) Supermen - mysite.com

Other page, history-of-superman.html has <title>history of supermen</title> ... and footer with hyperlinks (contact, privacy policy, ebook) <br/> (not hyperlinked) history of supermen - mysite.com

Is this fine footer for history-of-superman.html page or the footer should have (not hyperlinked part) supermen - mysite.com ??

As I know, it is good for seo to put your targeted keyword at the end of footer (and doesnt need to be hyperlinked). So, should every seperated page have in its footer its own targeted keyword or the keyword from index.html page?

In my case, I put different targeted keywords in the footer of each page ... so the same thing footers have is links and mysite.com

Hope now its easier to understand.

i forgot, the easiest way to understand how my footers looks is to visit my site in signature. Dont worry, i am not trying to sell you something...

You will see if you visit a couple of pages, each footer has different targeted keyword (which is same as in titel tag) ... so should I leave it as is or should I put in the footer only targeted keyword from index.html page

Now I think you understand what I am talking about, lol.

Have main text link navigation which is common for all pages. Then for each individual page, link to relevant pages within the content of the page.
