Football streaming site infrigements.. help please!

    hi all,
I've recently received an email from what they claims a "copyrights company" called NetResult. here is what I got from them:

so here is the situation. I have this site called http://www.footballfreetv.com. this site is used to allow people to watch football matches for free. the first thing, my site doesn't stream any of these matches. it only provides/embeds the links of streaming channels for these matches and these channels produced by other people not me. and I've stated on my site that:
my site doesn't stream these matches. I only embed some channels streamed by other people. these streams produced by other people Voluntarily. I just get these streams from P2P programs such as SopCast, TVAnts and TVU...
so from what I know. they should talk with people who stream these channels. am I right? or I did somthing wrong? coz from what I know this will be considered as an infringement only If I was streaming these channels from my site or server..

    any suggestions?

Pirate Bay didn't host any files. What you are doing is contributing to copyright infringement. Take the site down unless you want to be sued - and you are also at risk for having your adsense account terminated.

It all depends on where you host your website really.
    • If you host your website in a country like Hong Kong where the laws are more relaxed on illegal activities like streaming then you can ignore the email and continue with your website. Hosting in countries like that is often referred to as Offshore Hosting.
    • If on the other hand your website is on a host in the UK/USA then action can be taken against you eventually.
Overall, I would either take your website down or move it onto an offshore host.

    • Another example is, the old TV/Movies steaming website TV-Links. The owner residing in the UK was raided by police and his website was shut down. All he ever did was link to other video websites. If he received charges or not I am not sure, but his website was taken down and still is down.
    • Also as mjewel said, you do have Google Adsense on your website and if someone reports you to Google then eventually your account will be banned as it is against their T.O.S.

    More Information:

This forum should give you more advice as it is for warez/steaming owners, wjunction.com. There are many people with queries like yours and posters receiving many threats, with the experience in telling you what you need to do. You can also find out alternatives to Google Adsense, if you plan on removing it.

please read what I said again.
I'm not streaming any channels from my site..
all streams come from other people not from me..
I just search for them from p2p programs and embed them in my site..
and its clear that i'm not doing anything wrong. unless if i was the streamer..
they should talk with the owners of these streams.
after some googling I found this interesting page:
    http://thepiratebay.org/legal
see how they deal with these kind of emails. they really cracked me up and made my day..

1 more thing as long as im not living in UK or USA they can do nothing about this. all they can do is to talk with webhost provider. and for adsense I've been using their service for 2 years. till now no issues. simply because I'm not the streamer. I'm thinkin of moving the site to Swedish or dutch webhost..
any good swedish or dutch webhosts you know?

you dont need to stream to get sued... and yes thats how the Pirate Bay deals with things but they are also due in court.

what about other sites which they are the sources of streaming these channels..
like TVAnts, TVU, SopCast, JustinTV, UStream and others..
from what you said, they should sue all of these companies. which they are the owners of these streams..
mate be realistic, they have nothing against my site. there are hundreds and thousands of streaming sites.
most of these sites have very high ranking such as myp2p.eu or livefooty etc...
if they sue me. they should sue the whole system. all websites, including the streaming providers companies and individuals who stream these channels..

Go ahead and do as you please. Lot's of people rob ranks, not everyone gets caught - it doesn't make it legal. They don't have to go after anyone else, they are going after you. You are not only putting the links, but embedding the video which is hosted somewhere else. You are profiting off of their content and they have a legal right to sue you regardless of where you host. Offshore hosting makes it harder to get the content taken down - no DMCA, so they will have to sue you. You can fight it, it's just going to cost you tens of thousands of dollars.

As far as adsense, all someone has to do is report you and your account will be banned. There are a lot of threads on DP about people having 5 year-old accounts that all of a sudden got banned. You will be banned if they discover it or someone (like The Premier League) reports you for infringement.

The company is cracking down and it's up to you whether the risk is worth taking. If your making enough money then move your hosting account. It's unusual that they would be targetting a small site thats just embedding/providing links to streams.

I've had an email before from these guys and they told me to stop using images of football players. They wanted be to buy a £10,000 license just to use the Premier League's images. Pissed me right off but it didn't really make a difference to the site in general. I don't know why but they seem be targetting the smaller sites instead of going for the source of the streams.

    I don't know man..
they didn't send me any other emails. I respond to them that the email you have contacted is not monitored please use our contact us page.. till now they didn't send anything...
if they keep threatening me I would just move my site to Swedish or dutch or Indonesian webhost.
after that they can suck it up..

I knew that mate, sorry if I did not make myself clear, but in what you are doing my post still applies.

Also if your host is in the UK/USA, then that way of dealing with those kind of emails will do you no favors.
Note this as well, some of the emails sent are actually normal people who send threatening messages to their competition in the hope of them going down and their website gaining visitors instead.

Dug it out from my mailbox for your reference, heh, these people mean business! So better take down all the embedded youtubes etc, and just post a link to the youtube instead. You still have a chance to save your site!

Just move your site to an offshore host and I think they cannot do anything.
