Having won every possible trophy and title in past games (championship manager and football manager) with teams like Liverpool and Bayern Munich it started to get a bit boring... This time (FM2008) i started a league with my hometown team ; Maccabi Netanya from Israel (finished 2nd twice in a row in "real life"). I managed to get to Champions league group stage along with Valencia, Panatanaikos and Arsenal it's impossible for such a small team as mine to do anything against them... As for your question on which players you should buy, it kinda depends on your team, your database and funds... Obviously i could never buy someone like Messi or Rooney, but i did manage to find some "small" players that i got for less then 500k$ and sold for over 8$...
