Selling Football Forum - 6000 posts, 450 members in less than a year! Over 55,500 UNIQUES!

Hello DP,

For sale today is my Football Forum. It has been around for 13 months, and as you can see above, has received on average 318,618 hits a month.

2009 was our year and was the year that showed talent and skill in the worlds' football. This is what has brought us our 451 members and 6000 posts.

Unfortunately, my co-owner and I took the extremely hard decision to close the board late last year, due to lack of funds. We originally did show adverts on the board, and we made anything from $5USD p/m to $20USD p/m, which went directly to managing the server costs. However, we later chose not to run ads on the forum, so the members had the smoothest experience possible. We turned into a non-profit forum, accepting donations, and in return offering premium services. Our premium service was called 'Extra Area', which gave the user an Orange Username, their own userpage (however this is most likely incompatible with vB 4), 2000 Private Message space, custom User Title, a Football Area email forwarder (eg. -> ) (this had to be set up manually), a private forum to talk with the other Extra Area members, Premier League Highlights and the use of animated Avatars and Signatures.

However, once the forum is yours, you are free to do whatever you wish regarding adverts and paid subscriptions.

Since the forum closed, we have still been getting surprisingly high traffic. Niether myself nor my co-owner has done any advertising, yet since we closed we have been getting on average more than 1,400 unique hits per month. We have received on average 93877 hits per month, while being closed.

Can you imagine the amount of traffic you could get with a lot more effort?

Please note that the selling price for the site includes a necessary fee of $175USD, which will be paid immediately upon receiving payment to vBulletin, for their upgrade of an old leased license, to a new vBulletin 4 license, which is needed to transfer the license and forum to the buyer.

I'm just wondering, how come the Alexa ranking is way too low?

 

I'm actually not too sure - Never touched Alexa before and DP adds it automatically.

Edit: Just looked at the Alexa page for us, and it's got no traffic details on there whatsoever...

 

This site is completely dead, how is it worth 3K?

There hasn't been any activity on the site in over five months, your site is getting less than 1000 uniques a month, and no one wants to pay $175 to transfer a vBulletin license on a site with this traffic.

You'll be lucky if you get $100 for it.

 

Hi there-

Yes, however, look at the 2009 stats image - there are a lot more unique hits. It is easy to get back up to at least page two on google for 'Football Forum', as we got there with < 30 backlinks.
