I just got a request to join a closed group on facebook from Rita Gonzalez. Figuring it was spam because I know most of the people who would want to join the group I checked out her profile.

    ROFL

She has 11 friends and all but one are also called Rita - and whaddayaknow - they're all friends with the same exclusive bunch too.

Good to see the spammer hasn't taxed his brain by trying to come up with unique names.

For all you know, the person on the top left could be Rita in Chinese.

I am also thinking that it's the same person in the pictures.

I really do not use FB much at all. What would happen if you joined this group? Rita would then have access to all of your friends/connections for spamming? Or they can spam you a lot more and a lot more easily? Or both? Or are there other benefits the spammer would gain?

Given what I've seen in the past with a bunch of "Alexis" accounts they want to spam sunglasses and only sunglasses. They target groups and not pages probably because once they're in a group their posts will be "allowed on page" at full size and not smaller like they would be on a page.

They wouldn't have access to anyone outside the group.
They don't appear to send friend requests which is the normal way to appear to be connected.
