If you are a beginner then follow these rules to have smooth understanding and success with Microsoft adCenter.

    1. Write your ad informative in order to attract customers.
    2. Select geography which you would like to target your audience.
    3. Set daily spending limit to $2 or monthly budget $50 in campaign settings.
    4. Use min 10 keywords for the campaign.
    5. Set max bid amount to 0.10 for first few days.
    6. Check your ad performance daily and make sure everything is working fine.
    7. After 3 days evaluate your keywords, increase max bid amount (if required) and add new keywords.
    8. Check the conversion rate.
    9. Don’t forget to check competitors ad for same keywords and rewrite your ad.
    10. Contact customer support and convert your account to Prepaid (if it is postpaid).
    11. Keep fine tuning your ad and keywords for success again and again!

any specific reason why $2 per day and $.10 bid for first few days? should not that vary depending on the niche?

I found some posts from beginners saying that they lost lot of money in adCenter...one of the reason is they dont know what to set daily spending limit and max bid to get clicks. if they set $2 per day and $.10 max bid, after couple of days they will understand how they are getting click and how they are spending money. These settings are required just for the initial days.

it is continuous process to fine tune you ad for keywords, also make sure to have keywords with low CPC.
