    good comments but make sure you don't submit same articles to 1000s of article directories. Google won't like duplicate ones nor the article owners.

    I think this is the essence. Unfortunately not everyone are willing to put your desired anchor text, they just put the link which is nothing for SERPS.

    Example like johnchow.com, he use "make money online" as anchor text, now his blog rank in top 3 of make money online keyword. this is the power of anchor text!

    perhaps we can make a "link to us" page, where we can provide codes that can be used to link to us!
    most of the sites already do this, and am planning to setup one for my sites as well:)

    Can you please detail more on this?

    The strategy with well designed anchor text is very good, but what anchor text should I use for my links? Should I try to optimize categories? I can't concentrate on products, because I have like 40k of them.

    managed keywords, you can put your main keywords in title, url, meta tags, formatting tags, and content. Some sites with no backlink reaches top 10 in Google's searches

    I have very good titles, meta tags, urls ... but few back links with good anchor text. And the biggest problem, my competitors are giants. Hard to beat. But I will take my chances ... :)
