It’s been a long while since we’ve really seen web proxies in the spotlight. Back in the day, Glype was everywhere — people were spinning up hundreds of them, and it was the go-to option for getting around filters and browsing through a middle layer. But let’s be honest: those scripts are ancient now, clunky by today’s standards, and they haven’t aged well.

That’s why I wanted to share something I’ve been working on: https://web.flype.network/

Flype is my attempt to bring back the web proxy concept, but built on modern tech. It’s not perfect yet (definitely still a work in progress), but it’s already miles ahead of the old Glype-style scripts. My goal is to make something that feels fast, usable, and accessible — something that doesn’t feel stuck in the mid-2000s.

I’d really appreciate it if you all could take a look at the demo and share your thoughts. Things like:

    • How does it feel compared to the old Glype sites you might remember?
    • Does the browsing experience feel smooth enough?
    • Any pain points, bugs, or suggestions for improvement?
I’m hoping this sparks some nostalgia for those of you who remember the good old days of proxy networks, while also showing what’s possible with today’s stack.

Looking forward to your feedback — good, bad, or brutal!
Though please keep in mind, with web sockets, bot detection and the like.. This can only go so far.

I just called up a site I'm working on and it presented perfectly, fast, and the address bar was discrete. I'm not sure why I'd use it for anything that isn't nefarious but it looks like it'd be a fun project.
