I am pretty sure it is not called skip. But very few flv players allow you to jump into the middle of a video while watching it. Others just have to play it second by second (or frame by frame). Anybody know any good flv player that can skip to the middle of a video?
If you are watching the flv file on your computer, you could try using VLC Media Player at videolan[dot]org. That media play pretty much plays every single kind of format imaginable, so I wouldnt be surprised if it can foward through a flash movie (depending on how the movie was made).
In most of these players, the source is a progressively downloading flv which you can only navigate into as far as it has downloaded. if you want full random access to any part of the timeline, you'd need to serve your video as a true stream (i.e over rtmp by flash media server etc)
http://jeroenwijering.com/?item=jw_flv_player I've seen this player do what you are looking for, but when you jump to the middle it will have to buffer again before playback resumes
Interesting I will dig info on this. Do you have any literature on this? No this does not forward. This is what I have.
