I keep getting this error in Awstats. What does this mean?

"Flush history file on disk (unique hosts reach flush limit of 20000)" This happened when I "update" from browser.

    Hello there

I'm running awstats on a massive log file, about 23 gigs. I ran it overnight last night and when I came in it looked like it had finished. I went to browse to the profile but there was no data in the site.

    I also get the

"Flush history file on disk (unique hosts reach flush limit of 20000)"

appearing in the command line, after a number of these lines

"Flush history file on disk (unique url reach flush limit of 5000)"

but it appears to be still running, and TOP shows that it is. Are you sure that the message is an error?? Did you experience no data in the results also and how big is your log file?

I'm looking into it now so we may be able to help each other out.

I'm using Fedora Core 4 by the way and the most recent AWSATS as of 26/01/06

I bet you found this via google :)

I figured the problem was because Awstats simply couldnt handle the size of the log. Had to clear it everyday as it wouldnt proccess it. I am not sure how you are running at 23 gigs as that wouldnt be close to what I was struggling with.

Hi INV, yes, google, my life is google.

When you say you cleared the log file every day, do you mean you used this new option in 6.5. link is http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_changelog.txt

New: Add option databasebreak to force awstats to use a different database
history file for eache day or hour instead of month.

    ??

Or do you mean something else?

The funny thing is I'm starting to use awstats as webtrends was such a pain in the arse to use. I still think awstats is better but if there's no chance of getting the whole years worth I'll have to split it up into monthly ones.

    ho hum

The thing is the awstats wouldnt proccess more then 24 hours of data because it couldnt handle it for some reason. I had to resort to downloading the logs to my computer as its way faster that way.
