Fluid & Fixed Themes. What about it?

Hi, i'm at the crossroads of picking out a theme for my forum.

I do understand the difference between fluid and fixed themes.
Fluid stretches across on my 24inch monitor.
Fixed, just stays with a fixed width.

But, why would someone op for a fixed width when fluid does the job?
I'm ignorant in this case and hope someone can help this noob on this topic.

Fluid themes require more effort to build on the part of the designer, but if you're just buying a theme fluid is definitely what I would go with. Any layout that uses relative values will always be more versatile than one that uses absolute measurements (pixels, ems).

A fixed style looks the same for all users whereas a fluid style could either be 1k pixels or 2k pxiels wide depending on the users' monitor.

In my experience, advertisements generally yield more favourable results on fixed styles. Same applies to boards with a light coloured theme.

To me, fluid looks much more nicer. It all depends on you though.

I use to run a fluid theme, but for static content like posting articles, or making custom pages, having a fixed theme is easier to control the content. This way you don't have to modify the content to work with a range of resolutions.
