While I have no proof..I am totally convinced that every single high dollar domain name purchase on ebay happens like this:

Person A registers domain for $8.

Person A puts the domain on ebay for $150,000

Person B (his buddy) "buys" the domain for the said price

Person B (in 3-4 months) sells the domain on ebay again with the disclaimer. I recently bought this domain one ebay for $150,000 - but realized I do not have time for it - so I'm willing to let it go for $2-3k.

PS - I didnt even notice that the above site was misspelled until I looked at it for a few minutes.

You could be right about that, but what about the final auction fee?

How much do you think it would be to do that?

Seller would just claim that the buyer never paid or backed out of the payment before the 30 days are up.

Seller B puts a link in the auction to show the final bidding price of the previous one. The fact that it was never paid for is never mentioned on the page.

The last good domain name I found on ebay was "skulls.com" and it went for $50k I believe. I hovered my mouse on the buy button on that one for a few minutes before I thought better :). I have bought 2 sites on ebay in the past, almost won an awesome site that went for $8k.

I agree with this, but you're probably not going to reach them on eBay. You've got to go where the monkey is my friend.

You should drop out a few press releases to Florida based publications like all of the regional based business journals. Heck you could even pump it up so that the 'storyline' is about your expertise in buying, selling, and marketing web businesses...AND that Internet investments are alive and well. Promote yourself and the domain sale all in the same shot.

Ba dah boom, ba da bing!
