I think it is a great domain name but without any revenue or traffic figures $50k is tough to swallow.

I like the site design, very crisp. However, the red text headers annoy me.

Big potential, but I don't see anyone shelling out $50k without a year or two of revenue history. Can't hurt to give it a shot on Ebay though.

I saw a really crappy domain sell there recently for about $150,000.00

    I think it was popebenediktxvi.com

I know it's the pope, but jeeze, common now.....

I figure chances are good, but lets see what happens....

If it sells, I'll be sure to come back and give everyone in this thread a dollar... :D

I seriously doubt you'll get anywhere near $50K for it. $5K sounds more like it.

LOL, fryman, I was actually just being generous. I personally wouldn't pay $5K for it, but I can see where someone who is really interested in the topic and is dying for a site like that, might pay it.

I'm figuring it is worth alot because of how tremendously lucretive the travel industry is ESPECIALLY FLORIDA....

here is the value in a nutshell:

    Number 1 AGE
I wouldn't seriously expect to market a site in such a competitve market unless it has some age behind it.... (unless you want to spend huge money) Site is 2+ years old.

    Number 2 STRENGTH
This site has some seriously strong backlinks as far as the new "trust rank" is concerned..... (do the research, their there)

    Number 3 KEYWORDS
Has anyone missed the keywords in the domain name?

    Number 4 THEME/MARKET
We aint selling pancakes here. Plane Tickets, Hotel Reservations

Number 5 DMOZ LISTED - PRIME CATAGORY
I'm not sure if anyone realizes how hard it is to get listed in any regional state catagory labled Guides and Dirctories.
    Listed in... USA > Florida > Guides/Directories.

I'm usually not this arrogant but,
Take off your foggy goggles and put your thinnking caps on, this is a solid domain and opportunity.

I have seen much worse sell for much more, no question.

    Well said and I agree.....

like anything else, I could be wrong, it may not sell, but if it does, if used correctly these types of sites are worth alot of money because they are pretty much unlimited to the amount of things you can do with it.

If I was going to keep it, I would grow it to a huge site detailing every town and branch out and cover every topic on Florida...

I would make it a huge content site....

If it already had that, then it might be worth some serious $$$.

Still, what the heck, good luck. Maybe you'll be right.

It is all about timing and putting your product in front of the right audience. I once went to an office liquidation auction. I saw printers, phone systems and more going for more than they could be had for new in a store. You never know what people will do.

That's what I'm thinking... I figured you know what, I've seen some really surprizing deals go on ebay...

I'll list it, even though it's not something I really want to get rid of, but heck, I'd love to invest the money in some other things I have going on if I can get my asking price......

your right, the right audience is key....

I homepage featured it and listed it in two catagories.... Cross your fingers for me.... Show some love.... :D

I'd think 50k is a tad high. While "visiting florida" seems like a nice keyword - it really gets very few searches. It has a good start and potential - but you can't buy a site and pay for potential. I could probably imagine offering Donna's 5K if I really wanted a travel site, but 50k is a little tough to stomach for just about any site not pullling in at least 20k a year in profit.

very valid point, I will admit.... But what are your thoughts on a domain name sale for popebenediktxvi.com for $150,000.00 on ebay?

A "tad high" for a domain name by itself..... Who knew?

That's a good example of the crazy things that happen on ebay....
an $8 domain name registered only days before closes for a $149,992.00 profit...

    simply amazing... :)
    Domain name only.....

    On another thought,

A perfect buyer would be a company like "Universal Studios" or "Jacksonville Zoo" or Orlando's "Sea World"....

Instead of one more huge highway banner to add to the arsenal of road signs that probably cost them $50,000 a year EACH, heck - buy the site at a one time cost and lure in all the visitors you can, for the rest of the companies life....

That's why I'm suggesting that the site is dirt cheap.....

I haven't even really marketed it at all, but imagie if a company like that got ahold of it.... Don't you think you could see that on TV or as you are enetering Florida's state line..?

It would be interesting if the sale really went out on that domain name clasione, to be honest I'd not sell a business on e-bay, and would trust very few of the sellers too - Good luck with it though! :)
