    Hello,

I am thinking of going to Florida in January. How is the weather in Miami, Napels and Orlando area? To cold to swimm in the ocean (in Miami)?

Was there in May and was great, just wondering if I should choose a more southern location for January (I want something warm and want to swimm).

Thanks and hope this doesn't look strange that I ask here, but DP is almost my second home already.

"Too cold" depends on where you live. I'm a Florida native, and yes, January is too cold for me to swim! But we have plenty of people from up north who DO swim in January. Temps can range wildly - it could be in the mid 70's in January, it could be in the low 40's! There's simply no way to guarantee warm weather. We've had a Christmas where we were wondering if would snow, and others where we all wore shorts. (FYI, I'm an hour from Orlando)

Miami should be warmer than Central FL (Orlando)

Now, if Key West is an option for you, it's usually ALWAYS warmer there. The average temp in Key West in January is anywhere from 65 to 75 degrees. Less chance of a cold snap.

I agree. If you live in South Florida, it is too cold. If you live in Minneapolis, it's warm enough..

If you are fine with 65-70 degree or so water then you should be fine (Just remember that water feels way colder than the same temperature in the air).

Like said above, the Keys are a great place to go in the winter. Heck, they're a great place to go anyway. I would recommend you going down there, lot of cool stuff.

Thanks for all the info! I already been to keys, so I'll see if I'll go there again. Maybe I'll go somewhere warmer, like Thailand and postpone Florida until May or something.

Anyway I am leaving in half hour for a short thip, so thanks again for all the answers! Reps given to all of you.

Swimming in Florida is not a bad idea... its just that there will be certain days that it will be very cold. Im originally from New York and I have swam in pools in Janurary but other days are extremely cold.

    Hi,

I am going to Florida/Orlando next Easter (end of March, start of April) and now I'm wondering if it will be warm enough. I thought it was 'The Sunshine State' all year round. What temps should I expect?

Your looking at around mid 70's maybe low 80's highs during the day. One of my favorite times of the year in Florida... not to cold, and not hot.

Just because it's sunny, doesn't mean it's warm!

Weather.com is a great resource - you can view the average annual temp of a city there.
