Hi guys, Was wondering to myself. I do not have a huge amount of links to my site but evryone keeps going on about link backs and how kick ass they are. I understand relevant one way links to your site are ideal but I have also heard some negatives. Can anyone tell me, is there any down side to getting back links before I start tearing through directories, I dont really have the time to be doing that. Cheers dood's
as long as they come from related sites, and they look natural (built over time, not all the same anchor text) you will be fine
How do you mean negatives? Natural one way links from relevant sources are far from being a negative. As for not having "time" are you sure your in the right industry? In fact, are you sure your suited to working for yourself?
A lot of the time you have to experiment a lot on your own as many situations are different for various types of websites. Even though you could be told one thing, it may not be true, i would try for myself anyway, then you know the answer for sure. It wont be wasted time as any amount of time and experience online usually adds to a better understanding for yourself. Depends on what your target maket is. If you want to get into the serps you are going to have to start working at it and to keep working at it. Thats the important part. However if its a directory you are building you wont need serp's for a long time. Do it right, you might even get organic links and save yourself all the trouble.
