    Hi,

I have companies picthing me with flatrate adwords campaigns, for local search. I'm wondering how it's possible as I've yet to find any information about this myself. I know Google was experimenting with something like this some time ago.

    Here's a quote from adage.com

    Anybody care to contribute?

    Thanks

Seems very simple to me what they are doing. They are buying keywords on your behalf but only as much as needed or pay as little as needed to make a profit.

Say that whatever you're selling, there could be a dozen keywords. This company is surely not going to bid on every one of them, especially if the search volume and price per click would be more than what they are charging you. They'll bid on one, maybe two keywords. They may not even be the best or even the most searched ones. If they charge $100 per month, they maybe put $50 towards your campaign. They could also schedule ads to show only during certain times. You therefore lose exposure on both counts.

Also, they may be bidding as low as possible. You lose there too with lower positioning.

Finally, do you think they'll waste too much time with testing ads? I don't think so. They'll quickly make one ad and leave it. Because the more time spent on a campaign, the lesser their bottom line.

I on the other hand will actively manage your campaign. Your account is used so there is no hiding, you can see what's happening yourself. You pay for your costs but my job is to maximize quality traffic and minimize your costs. I think you'll get much more value than a company that takes your money and "proves" they are doing their job by telling you to search on a certain keyword and show they made an ad because you see it in Google.
