"Adobe repeated time and again that Apple's mobile devices can not provide full Internet experience because 75% of the network video is Flash format. But they did not say that these videos were almost all belong to a more advanced format: H.264." Steve Jobs said. In fact, the present FLV videos on the major online video sites are all use H.264 as the encoding, so they are both Flash and H.264.
Apple is killing Flash. "Normal" people are sick of not being able to access Flash on their iPads/iPhones. Flash has 24 months left at best. H264 will never be supported by Mozilla (and most likely Opera too). It seems we're all jumping from one sinking ship into another. Browser wars, codec wars, here we go again... I see a bad moon rising.
With all respect to Mr. Jobs, Flash will not disappear, it's still superior to HTML5 and too many people create content using it.
At least not for a few years. You mean the related HTML5 elements. Your point is arguable. For video, the video and audio elements will win out because they work on any browser on any platform. Not true for Flash. Also, nothing needs to be downloaded or installed for HTML5. Many of the other elements can also be equivalent to anything done in Flash using <canvas> and SVG. I'm aware there might be some things Flash can still do better at the moment, though. Mostly because you couldn't use HTML5 video, audio and canvas till this year, ya' think? There are a lot of people experimenting with all this and there are some pretty neat demos out there. Apple lists a whole slew of big web sites, like CNN and NYTimes, that have turned Flash off and are now using the HTML5 elements for the iPad giving the same functionality. Flash is in big trouble.
FLASH is in trouble ? no way JOSE HTML5 is just a neophyte in comparison to Adobe Flash, Flex. Flash is now a standard for developing games, database infrastructure, handling video & audio and what else ? GOOGLE: Flash Physic Engine so you can see the depth of the application. I guess HTML5 will be a good option for replacing the "video & audio" but you can't really compare, it will be an unfair comparison.
Do not worry. Not all the web sites will be immediately updated to HTML 5 standard. Therefore, all browsers will have backward compatibility with HTML 4.
No kidding, Sherlock, but that doesn't mean it won't put Flash down. Google for HTML5 canvas and SVG demos and you'll see some things, too. Why? HTML5s video and audio is just as good or better than Flash plus you don't have to download or install anything. It's native to the browser, highly programmable, runs on any browser on any platform. You can't say any of that about Flash and, unlike Flash, it's native to the browser and won't crash like Flash does.
Like Google, Apple, the NY Times, CNN, BBC......only an amateur would make such a statement. In fact, Firefox just turned on native HTML5 support in the nightlies for that browser for all web pages.
Define Sherlock. ... ? HTML5 is so 1999 in comparison to Flash, Flex , Silver light & Sun JavaFX. I am just surprised it has taking this long to catch up. Up to this point it will be better for Browsers to run the plug-ins as native.
Sherlock Holmes. Private investigator. HTML5 is relatively recent and not finished. You are the one behind the times to make statements like that.
private investigator ? pfffff somebody must be high on crack. I really hope apple figures out a way to be on the same page as adobe is. I am not behind times I am only ahead of you. you're funny drhoward.
You say you're ahead of me but you don't know who Sherlock Holmes is? Now I know you don't know what you're talking about.
