    Virtual Photo Booth Functional Specification

    Introduction

The idea of the virtual photo booth is to create a piece of flash software that can be used for viral marketing purposes (e.g. e-mail pyramids and blog sites). The original idea came from a piece of software claiming to locate your mobile phone (http://www.sat-gps-locate.com/english/index.html). It works because it genuinely fools people in to believing it will work.

The software will need to create the feel of an old fashioned photo booth that is used to take pictures for passport photos and alike.

The following specifications are only a guideline. If the designer has a better approach then I am happy to bow to his expertise.

    Design

    Landing page
Title e-photoframes virtual photo booth. Include some images of old style photo booths and maybe some passport style photographs (see http://www.photobooth.net/)

Welcoming text e.g. welcome to our virtual photo booth etc.
Disclaimer: We are not responsible for user errors causing image distortion
    Key feature bullets
Creates a virtual image using heat sensor technology incorporated in most modern monitors
    No camera / webcam required
The technology will only work with flat screens and Internet Explorer V.8. (A Firefox version will be available soon)
The technology works best in a well lit room
Passport style photos created almost instantly in Jepg. form
Have a drop down box to allow the user to select: Eye colour and hair colour. This should be accompanied by a note saying something like variables required to ensure maximum image enhancement
Following the entry of the variables, the user should have a button to enter the photo booth.

    Photo booth
When the client enters the photo booth there should be a blank screen (similar to what you look at in a real booth)
There should be a list of instructions (with a prompt to read them)
Please make sure your face is parallel with the screen and below the top of the monitor. The screen should not be tilted at an angle, but be placed at 90 degrees.
Please sit no further than 1m from the screen.
Best results are achieved by sitting up-right with a straight back
There should now be an instruction to take the photo: To take your passport photo please press the snap button
Following the user pressing the snap button their should be a flash image similar to a camera flash going off (like in a real booth)
Following the flash image their should be an egg timer or 5 second countdown before the image is revealed.
The image should slowly come in to focus. It should be an amusing image - but not offensive (I have picked out the below). Maybe show this as a set of four like a set of passport photos

Text should appear on the image(s): Sorry about that You can't really take a photo with a computer monitor, but you can help to save the environment. Perhaps a disclaimer saying In the event that the above image represents a true likeness of the user we can assure you this is entirely coincidental
A new flash image should appear with a photo frame and image inside with a clickable link to our site. I think we should keep the narrative simple as we want to arouse curiosity. Maybe some text simply saying Quality photo frames, unique environmental footprint. Suggested frame and image below. Let me know if a wood frame would be better.

Please PM me if you are interested in taking this project on.
