    Hi all,

I was going to build an all flash site here but do you believe this will cause less visitors/revenue due to compatibility issues? I was going to change my mind and do it all html for faster response times and higher traffic ratio b/c they wont have to install flash.

    What are your thoughts?

Flash websites can be really nice (if done well), but... the search engines won't be able to crawl it.

it all depends, imo, on what you're doing. i have a math game site that is all flash based....i get traffic from other sites that link to it becuase it's got pretty unique content...if you use flash to create original content, you'll be fine, but if you're just using flash to make it look a little nicer ..you're probalby better with html...in the end, the cliche 'content is king' holds true for flash and non flash sites.

Really depends on what kind of site you are going to be making.

If it's a design site or something that you are looking to really attract repeat, hip people to then try flash (you must be a good flash author too of course), if your simply making a website about acne treatment a blog or something is probably better.

Flash sites require a lot of time to visit and look through! they impose and annoy in a way despite their original and interesting appearence...

As far as possible use less flash until google start indexing flash content.

Personally I do care for sites that are all flash...I think I site that has a little flash mixed in is nice...But anything more then that is to much. The sites that are all flash can be really slow loading for someone who isnt on an extremely good connection...I live in the state of Maine and the company I work for has some customers in the boons :) so I have to be careful on how much I use...

Thanks a lot for the responses. My site is not a portfolio or anything (affiliation site) so i'll just stick to the html. The flash looks really really nice but you guys brought up good points.

I know this sounds really stupid as most big, professional companies make all flash websites
but I think they seem very unprofessional, scruffy and not very accessible to me

even just using one bit of flash on a web page can be highly annoying and silly
    a prime example is http://www.limelightnetworks.com/
the audio is just annoying, I can't even turn it off

Flash sites aren't really recommended.. Its really annoying (for me it is) and for ppl that has a slow connection, its gonna take forever for the website to load
