Hi Guys, Anyone have any evidence that the search engines can now read flash (.swf)? I know from years ago it was always a no no but i remember reading i think a article from google labs saying they were working on flash elements and being able to index them?
Yes I read the same article about Google now being able to read text within flash animations. I would still avoid using flash too much until you see evidence of it working. It still wouldn't work well for Yahoo and MSN. So you should probably wait a while.
cool thanks for that ... anyone have evidence that google can read the text in flash? or have an example?
just read the google blog http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/06/improved-flash-indexing.html
BE CAREFUL . . . why i say that is because a few months ago i had a flash banner that had my phone number dropping in from the top . . . and yes google read it BUT it read it like 66666666666 for a 6 and then 0000000000 for a single 0 i dont know why probably because it was animated and also i dont know if they have tweaked it since but what i do know is that with all those extra weird characters IT DROPPED MY SEARCH ENGINE RANK DRASASTICALLY so i would recommend using a animated .GIF
