    Hi,

I was just wondering your views on flash in google? Does a flash site tend to have any different characteristics when it comes to ranking??

    Just a few thoughts?

Flash is certainly not optimal. We have a lot of customers that need Flash-only sites restructured or redesigned so that the search engines can more easily extract content and relevancy. Macromedia has an SDK to aid, but it's largely unhelpful if you are competing in a competitive search engine atmosphere. At the end of the day, you still want lots of spiderable content and you can inject flash objects around it. Flash-only usually equates to a large PPC budget...

If you view the source of a flash page there is no content for a search engine to index. Below the flash (or behind, but risky) you can place some summary information and links to an html version of the site.

It is generally recommended to offer an html version anyway for the bandwidth challenged.
