Fishing on Lake Michigan? Advice???

Hello, I got a last minute invite to do a deep sea fishing type expedition on Lake Michigan tomorrow. Gonna go out with a bunch of the guys on a big ass boat and fish for some big ass fish.

I've never done anything like this before. Anyone have any advice? I was already told to bring warm clothes and a sweatshirt as it can get quite cold on the lake I hear.

    Thanks!!!

I was gonna say "Dress warm" but I guess you already have that covered.

Bring a camera so you have something to post in the "DP members Picture thread"... You really need to get out of your shell and post more pictures...

And can I come too? :D

don't forget your life jacket and a boat load of nekid ladies

if the day is warm, the lake is not bad. I go canoeing on open water all the time and I'm more than fine.

unless you have a bigger boat where booze is ok to use (I'm not talking about a freaking kayak) that do so...more fun

Got that covered... Come on, what do you think I am, an amatuer?

Ah, the camera.. Duh.. Well I have my iPhone, so that should work. Its a guys day out, so unfortunately, no buffalos allowed.

If there are naked ladies, I guess there might be a different kinda life jacket required.

Well, not sure you would want to canoe on Lake Michigan.

The boat will likely be in excess of 40 feet or more.

Seems to be the general consensus.
    Thanks.

Since many have asked... Well, the day of the fishing trip came and I got a call from the Captain saying there were 3-4 foot swells and that while the weather looked nice, it was going to be way to rough, so we had to cancel.

We ended up golfing instead..... What a sucky day. It's the worst I've ever played!

Don't eat any fish you catch from that lake. You will wake up with a tale and 5 legs.

That's Lake Erie that you are thinking of, not Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee has a habit of dumping human waste into the lake when the sewers overflow, so I guess that might be what he is referring to?

I would be willing to bet that Milwaukee/Chicago can't touch what Detroit/Cleveland have done to Lake Erie.
