Yee some impact for sure.. now i m getting my cpm up too it has jumped to 0.60 from 0.30 but still down compared to last 1 year but now that new adformat is showing less like 1 in 3 impressions..... previously it was like 1 in 2 impressions
I altered my top placed ads according to google's advice - leader board and rectangle above the fold and it has increased my earnings on my blogs. One article publishing site where I've c 2000 bookmarks and articles is not doing so well - in fact crap - but another is doing really well. Overall my earnings are maintaining but I want more!
CTR seems to be on the up for me. Maybe it's just you, your site and the way things are on your specific site. I don't think this is a general problem at all.
Addsence is very inelegant every time , when they saw people earning more from any thing they just changed that thing... but I think it did not effect me, my earnings are normal.
Yes I had noticed a drop in CTR of about 60% to 70% since early May. I even written a post about it and didn't realise what could have caused it, asked on this forums and others didn't notice any changes in the ads. The bad thing about it is, big ads stand out, but they look cheap and tacky. Also, it doesn't matter how big they are, if the person is not interested in what that ad is offering then they will not click on it, as with 4 ads being shown in an ad unit, then at least they have a bigger choice meaning a higher risk of them clicking, plus it's normally more integrated into your site. I've had a good steady CTR and eCPM for over 3 yrs now and have been hit real bad on this change of ads. It's easy for someone to say, don't worry or give excuses, just increase your traffic. Well if you have 1,000,000 pageviews daily and see a 70% drop in CTR, that can result in a 70% drop in earnings which is a huge hit. I have not got that many pageviews, but some sites definitely have. I stopped showing CPM ads from Adsense due to the huge one ad per ad unit looking cheap and tacky and now they have done this on CPC ads. Some people in this thread say don't worry about CTR, it will not help, cause it helps. Another thing I have noticed, I decided to use one image ad unit, and I see more ads showing Google advertising than anything else. I went on 10 pages of my site just now and every image ad was advertising something that belonged to Google like "get a free Google business listing", etc. That's also causing a lower CTR I believe.
Well friend i have not been effected by ctr its not like that just update u r site and write original articles u r ctr automatically get up if u have good visitors !!!
I heard they upped it to 60% of revenue for publishers. I don't have minisites yet but I guess this move is "the catch"
The worst thing about this is, I have 3 sites I use Adsense on and come May, the adsense CTR dropped roughly the same on them all and stayed that way. The only reason the CTR is higher than it use to be on my games site now is because I have optimized it more by using image ads instead of text. But I can't do the same with the other sites as I know image ads don't work with my niche compared to game sites due to the type of visitor using the site.
I have 2 blog. But daily visitors coming 40 to 50 and daily clicks 3,4 and earning 50 cent to 1$ is average my CTR was few days bounced 1.89% to 3.14%. Is this right? when what can i do it.
Does anyone know of you can alter the ads so they can show 4 ads per unit again via contacting Adsense. I know that was allowed with the CPM ads as I had them do it so my ads stopped showing CPM and just showed CPC ads.
Just to let you all know, I sat back, relaxed and thought for a while. Overtime I had remembered I moved one ad about a wk b4 my CTR fell and also took 1 ad of many pages of my site. Now this ad is only 1 out of the 3 that I moved. I therefore decided to put all ads back yesturday and moved the 1 ad back to where it once was. Surprisingly my CTR was back to normal yesterday, so decided I will now leave the ads where they are. But the most important thing is, I decided to change a bit of design on the site and doing that has bought todays CTR up further meaning I've had the best CTR in a while. So yesterdays earings was the best this month so far and todays may even be better, but my eCPM has been back to normal the last 2 days, which is great. So I now believe I was mistaken/wrong about Google and their ads, it was more to do with my ad placement and number of ads. Just goes to show how important ad placement is to aim to increase income/CTR. Last post about this now, but thanks.
