First Views on my new SE

(The domain DNS is still going through, it WILL be YahJah.com). Ok I have taken in what people have said before about my search engine script and now I would love to get your views on this one. I don't have any launch date and only the shell is done so far, however it will be intresting to hear your current views. Links are NOT active for a reason.

 

I think it looks good...I especially like the wikipedia results section, because normally that's what I want anyway...

The only problem I see is that it's a little difficult to read because everything's the same color...maybe make the results display in two different colors to make the headline stand out more...

Did you write the search script yourself? If so, is this very difficult to do? It seems like it would be...

Thanks for the comments and I will be changing the colors soon, however I want results to be drag and drop and wikipedia box instant expandable first. (Ajax). Indeed I wrote the script myself, you will get to notice I write lots of random scripts!

 

YahJah? An explanation somewhere of what it means would be handy!

Design wise, it looks good. Maybe a bit too much blue, a black or another colour would go well to make it more dynamic

 

I like it, I like how there is different sections for your search results. But there should be another color like black. Like mentioned above because it is kind of hard to read. But other than that it looks really good.

What does Xporing mean? It is a play on Exploring, as in finding.

 

I noticed that after you search, there is a button that says YahJah by the search box.

You might want to change that.

I like it, but you should add a bit more sites into your search database.

 

I'd rather not have this get too ugly, so I (the great YahJah caper) will try and point out a few facts. I try to settle this in just PM, but it really pisses me off when people flat out LIE to other people just because they're mad.

Someone I know on DP (will not mention the name), called me up and asked me if YahJah.com was open. I didn't ask why, I just checked and it was (I didn't know about this thread). It was open, so he asked me to register it for him (don't know why again, but now probably so I showup on the Whois). So I say alright w/e I'll register it.

Next morning I get an email saying I'm breaching a pending contract with YahJah. So I go to DP and search YahJah, and find this thread. I ask him what trademark I'm breaching. His answer is "Well none yet...but it's pending." I ask for the trademark number...he never emails me back (he does contact another friend of mine because somehow he thinks that guy was involved, when he wasn't at all). Which means I'm not breaching anything. That was the end of it on my side.

-I NEVER asked for any money. I never even said I'd keep the domain, I just asked to see what I was breaching.

-I'd give the domain back, it's not even a good name and I have no use for it, I just wanted to see where I was wrong (which I wasn't).

-Why would he make a thread about it if he hadn't even registered the domain name lol? I registered the name 2 days after this thread was started.


Gotta love webmaster drama. First bidder gets the domain for $10,000. LOL.


Also, for some criticism on the actual SE, Xporing is a better name than YahJah, and I'd change the logo to something not so huge, I just don't think it looks right. Other than that, not a bad idea having the wiki results etc.

 

Sup3r I was contacted by your freind, he stated that you told him what to do, he was also the one who said you was expecting money for it and also said the price. And I quote "I will phone him now", the person who claims to be your freind then stated you quoted the price 300USD and that he teachs you SEO. Keep the domain now, being it aint no good to me. Called the trademark office today (In UK) to cancel. I feel we have both been lied to here, and can only guess your freind was going to take the money for himself. He also stated that he told you you should give it back, and yet you said no.

Several times he tryied to make sure I did not contact you, including saying if I did you would file a suit for harrasment (I did explain it would not work like that). I hope you understand from my eyes your freind was acting on behalf of you, he did indeed say that his laywer was working for you.

I will pay for the domain reg fees dispite not needing it, as I feel you have been done wrong. It is a shame we have both been decived. This is the first contact from the user (your freind)

He then added me to MSN, I don't have logs as I don't keep them but if you did not request for him to try and get money I would be advised of what he tried to do.

 

It's not like that though, and my friend is a good guy, and does teach me SEO, and we did discuss money for it and he talked about getting his lawyers involved for me, etc. So nothing is his fault, I contacted him and said "This guy says I'm breaching a pending contract, is this true?" That's when he told me I have rights to the domain, and if you wanted to go to court, he would provide his laywer for me and we could ask for money.

He did nothing wrong, I think the whole problem here was that I was left in the dark with it. I was waiting for an email back from you, never got it. I honestly don't recall him saying I should give it back and me saying no, but I wasn't prepared to give it back until you presented your argument. Like I said I have no use for the domain and if you wanted to go to court I would have, and if I was going to pay for a laywer and stuff then I would ask for money for the domain.

All in all, we should stop attacking eachother's reputation because it's pointless. In the end you got a better name out of it, and I wasted 9 bucks, lol.

 

Ok well I have asked a moderator to delete messages regarding the domain, peace and enjoy the name . As you say, I got a better one out of it! (P.s you should not be paying 9 bucks for domains, 7.99 is the max I would pay!
