First time getting scammed on DP (by Rabihat) - I'll be smarter next time..

I've read a lot of threads about getting scammed here...

Now it's happened to me too.

The DP name is : Rabihat

His paypal address is : zahin_vantage@yahoo.com

He had 4 positive itrader scores so I thought okay he's reliable. So I bought a product from him. Sent him $55 via paypal. His PM said that I would receive the goods within minutes of him receiving the money.

It's been 3 days, and no word from him.

He's accepted the paypal payment, logged on DP a few times, but never sent me the product nor answered any of my PMs.

Anyways, I don't want to bore you guys. Just thought I'd warn you all.

I opened a paypal dispute and alerted my credit card company, but I doubt paypal can do anything about it.

    oh well oh well..

Hopefully you will get your PayPal money back. This has happened to me in a different forum before however I was lucky because after a few days the money just appeared into my account.

make sure you stay on top of paypal, they normally favor the buyer.
make sure they understand you have attempted to contact the seller several times with no results.

if you haven't escalated the dispute to a claim, do it now, don't wait

if the seller tells you to stop the dispute, don't.
    get your product first.
    good luck to you.

I hate people that can not make an honest living.. Hopefully you can get your money pack. Pay pal does favor the buyer but not when it comes to digital products. so you may want to go directly to your credit card and dispute it that way.

I had someone trying to sell me a premium domain name that would normally sell for $$$$ and he wanted only $100.
so I asked the guy to transfer the domain first and then I would send him the money - he came back to me saying do you think that I am stupid etc. anyhow as soon as I suggested that we use escrow the guy mysteriously disappeared :)

the only thing I can say to you is : contact paypal asap

Thanks all for your supportive words. I've escalated the Paypal dispute.

Someone suggested that I post the thread here but unfortunately there isn't one because he came to me offering his services via a PM.

I'm disappointed that I got scammed, but I also feel sorry for the guy who had to scam an honest person for a mere $55.

He seems to be logging on here daily, but he hasn't posted anything new. I wonder if he's logging on just to read these this thread..

Not really. The mod usually doesn't have enough time. If your a mod you will see that also.
For example: Each 5sec there will always be a new post in DP. Can't moderate all. Thats why they can only do the Infraction point system. That helps to stabilize DP.
By the way have you made a paypal refund request. You should you know> :)

While it's sad to see individuals trying to scam others, paypal isn't going to help out here, and here's why.

Paypal's TOS states quite clearly that they will not do refunds for 'digital purchases'. Unless you can prove that this is a physical product, all the seller has to do is say "this was a non-tangible item".

Now, that's not to say that they don't watch the seller closely after this, because, by god they will, but for digital purchases, paypal isn't going to help you one bit, and rightfully so.

As a service provider of 5 years, I've had plenty of individuals contact paypal to say "He didn't provide the service" when I did, in fact. They just didn't want to pay for it, so they contacted paypal. In the 'service' case, paypal can't prove things were, or were not delivered, so they opted to say "non-tangible goods, no refunds".

Now, that's not saying you can't contact your card company, or that the individual is going to say 'it was a service', because many times, individuals don't even bother to respond, but, all he has to do is use those words, and it's instantly decided in his favor.
