First post, this forum seems to be a good source of knowledge so i'm excited to learn from you guys. But anyways.. I'm about to try to optimize my website and am looking for some help. SEO is new to me and although I know a little, I am seeking some advice. My website is www.reserveaspotinheaven.com (lets keep this thread on topic) and up until now 99% of my traffic is coming directly, via word of mouth or links from blogs and other sites. I want to optimize it for the term gift or something related because it is in fact a gag gift and i would like to show up in the SERPS, so i'm wondering where I should start. I'm going to go through and edit my titles and meta tags. Should i throw in the term gift more on the pages? what about links and image alternate text tags, does that stuff matter? I'm not really sure what to do so if you have any advice i'd appreciate it.
Man, the problem is if you target the term "gift" as your keyword you're going to have one hell of a time getting into the top 10 on google. If you do a search in google under "gift" you'll be greeted with over 1 BILLION results. You need to think more niche. Do you know how to do keyword research? That's where you need to start.
I'm a total noob, sorry. I know that wanting to get in the top 10 for gift is a stretch because i would be competing with a lot of people. I thought maybe gag gift, novelty gift, novelty gag gift, unique gift...something gift?
