First page ranking with /, no ranking without.

Since Sept 22, every site on my server has had poor/inconsistant and usually weird up and down (mostly down) rankings on google.

For example, one of my sites pops in and out of google. For a week I'll have a first page ranking, then not in the top thousand for a month or so, then it will pop back up.

Running McDar's datacenter tool today, I noticed something:

    64.233.161.104 - (4) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    64.233.167.104 - (2) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    64.233.171.104 - (4) DCs 10 http://www.mysite.com/
    64.233.179.104 - (2) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    64.233.183.104 - (3) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    64.233.185.104 - (2) DCs 10 http://www.mysite.com/
    64.233.187.104 - (4) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    64.233.189.104 - (1) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    66.102.7.104 - (4) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    66.102.9.104 - (2) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com
    66.102.11.104 - (2) DCs ! http://www.mysite.com

The dc's that rank me at 10 also list my url with the trailing slash. The dc's with no ranking for me at all leave off the trailing slash.

This issue clearly affects at least one of my other sites. Many of my rankings are to particular pages 'sample.html', which would not have a trailing slash of course, but I wonder if this same issue is somehow affecting those too.

Is there anything I can do about this? Anything I can do on my server that would affect this?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Oh... duh.

I just realized that google is reporting back the url with the slash - and that McDar's DC tool is reporting the url without the slash when it doesn't find it in google. Google isn't reporting it without the slash - the tool is.

arrggh, now I'm embarresed. I don't see a 'delete' thread button. I would use it if I could find one.

Still, I certainly wish my serps would get better, faster, and be consistant. Right now they are all over the place!!!!!!!! Up one day, down another. Up in the morning, down in the afternoon. They seem to be creeping back up... but very slowly.

Sorry for my blunder of a post, glad I figured it out before someone else slapped me on the back of the head.

My sites are also up and down. It's been that way for weeks now. One day the tools report PR5. The next day PR0. Same with the back links and serps. It's frustrating but hopefully it will settle down over time.

    Good luck.
